<p><span style="color: #a6a6a6;">The FTC</span><span style="color: #1f497d;"> <a href="http://ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm">announced today</a> </span><span style="color: #a6a6a6;">that it updated its</span><span style="color: #1f497d;"> </span><em><span style="color: #333333;"><a href="http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/guides/guides.shtm">Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising </a></span></em><span style="color: #1f497d;">&nbsp;</span><span style="color: #a6a6a6;">&ndash; the first time since 1980.</span><span style="color: #1f497d;">&nbsp; </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #a6a6a6;">The portion most relevant to our work in this area is that legal action can be taken if bloggers are not transparent about their relationship with a company.&nbsp; For instance, if a bloggers receives a product to<em> </em>review, they must fully disclose that the product was provided by the company when they post their opinions. &nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;m glad to see that we are already being</span><span style="color: #1f497d;"> <a href="http://mashable.com/2009/10/05/ftc-blogger-endorsements/">recognized</a> </span><span style="color: #a6a6a6;">for following these standards and ethics for disclosure. &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
